Walter Edward Dzelsky, 94, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana. He was the son of the late Frank and Florence Dzwileski and was born May 25, 1921 in Johnstown, PA. Mr. Dzelsky was a member of the Homer City United Methodist Church, the Indiana VFW Post #1989. He was a founding member of ICARC (Indiana County Amateur Radio Club) and a Ham Radio Operator W3NFY for over 70 years. He was also an avid roller skater into his eighties. Walter was an Army veteran of WWII and the Chief Radio Operator on the first Army Hospital Ship (the Wisteria) in WWII, making 43 voyages across the Atlantic. He was a longtime employee of the Syntron Company (FMC) in Homer City, PA. Mr. Dzelsky is survived by his son David Lynn Dzelsky of Homer City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Elizabeth (Wetzel) Dzelsky, sisters, Helen Dzwileski and Mary (Dzwileski) Scibek, and brothers, Edward Daley, Joseph DeZell and Paul Dzwileski Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Katrina Laude, officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Delmont.
