Viola L. (Stiles) Hilliard, age 86 , of Homer City, PA. died February 26, 2013 at the Communities of Indian Haven. Vie was born in Indiana County on November 23, 1926, the daughter of the late Franklin and Margaret (Snyder) Stiles. Mrs. Hilliard was a graduate of the Laura Lamar High School. She was a homemaker who lived her entire life in the Homer City area. Vie was a member of the Homer City United Methodist Church where she was previously active as a Sunday School Teacher, and helper with bereavement dinners and the Easter Egg Project. Vie was a beloved wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered for her generous spirit and deep concern for the less fortunate. Her home was always open to neighborhood kids and friends. She always enjoyed the visit of Pastor Joseph Stains. She is survived by three sons: Ronald and wife Patricia, Douglas and wife Jeanne, and Eric and wife Barbara, all of the Homer City area. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Shelley Wolf and husband Vince, Amy Azzarello and husband Jason, Alicia Kavulic and husband Crag, Sean, Matthew and wife Rachel, Erica and fiancée Steve Dietz, and five great grandchildren; Kylee and Noah Wolf, Nathan and Gabriel Kavulic, and Dean Azzarello. Also surviving are one sister: Dorothy Hilliard, and one brother; Ralph Stiles and wife Twila, Three sister-in-laws, Lavonne Horn, Claudine and Ilse Hilliard; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Vie was preceded in death by: husband of 54 years, Ronald, in August 2000; and siblings Lloyd, Gilbert, Ernest, Elvie, Delton, Blair and Mary Walker. Friends and family will be received Thursday from 2-8 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. Homer City, Pa. and from 10-11 at Homer City United Methodist Church prior to a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Homer City officiated by Rev. Joseph Stains. Memorial contributions can be made in Vies memory to the Homer City United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, PA immediately following the service.
