Verna Catherine (Henkel) Luscia

Verna Catherine Luscia, 81, Homer City died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Luscia was born April 9, 1933 in Iselin, PA and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Patrick) Henkel. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the Altar Rosary Society. She was employed for 18 years at Indiana Sportswear. Verna is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Donald Luscia; three daughters, MaryAnn (Bob) Ciranni, Homer City; Donna Gatskie, Homer City and Diane (Bob) Ratay, Lucernenmines; six grandchildren, Janine and Craig Ciranni, Vanessa and Jimmy Gatskie and Kayla and Megan Ratay She is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws, Theresa Henkel Zimmerman and Mary Henkel; a special niece and goddaughter, Anna Marie Halo and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Lafferty, Elizabeth Vellesig, Anna Marafka, Helen Nene, Jean Halo, Delores Gray and Dorothy Henkel and brothers, John, Steve, and Michael Henkel. She was also preceded in death by her four sister-in-laws, Alva Sacco, Inez D'Alessandro, Livia Molnar and Frances Marchyshyn. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines site with Rev. Father Ronald Cyktor, the celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Louis Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association
