Thomas F. Zack of Lucernemines, PA passed away on May 30, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. The son of Basil and Hazel (Rhine) Zack, he was born on August 9, 1943 in Brush Valley Township. He was a graduate of United High School and eventually Triangle Tech with an associate degree in Carpentry and Construction Technology. He married the former Georgia Burkley on August 17, 1963. They were married for 53 years and together they had one child, a daughter Tina. Upon graduating high school, and being employed by Riverside Market for a short time, he found his career choice in the coal industry. First with R&P Coal Company and later with Consol Energy where he retired as a supervisor in the year 2000. He also was a member of the Helvetia Mine Rescue Team and Consol Mine Rescue Team. He enjoyed spending time with his mine rescue buddies. Tom was known for having a strong work ethic. Upon retirement, he attended Triangle Tech at he Dubois campus and promptly start remodeling his home. Because now he knew how to do it in the right way. His hobbies include planting a large vegetable garden and sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors, watching Steelers football game, and spending time with his beloved canine companion, Pierre. He also delivered the Indiana Gazette along with his daughter for seven years. He enjoyed talking with and getting to know his neighbors while he was their newspaper carrier. Tom is survived by his wife and daughter, both of Lucernemines. These sisters and brothers and their spouses, Betty (Ray) McKendrick, Janet (Chuck) Henderson, Eleanor (Ted) Bowser, Sam (Nettie) Zack, John (Laurie) Zack and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister, Wayne Elmer Zack, Ken Zack and Dora Dot Jones and all of their spouses, and Toms little buddy, Pierre. Tom will be missed and remembered by many people. Per Toms request, there will be not be a public visitation or funeral service. Arrangements were entrusted to the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, PA 15748. Tom is resting in peace in the Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana, PA. The family requests that any memorial donation be sent to the charity of your choice.
