Theresa Caprino Santus Pluchinsky, 99 of Indiana, Pennsylvania (formerly Coral, Pennsylvania) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, aunt and loyal friend, died at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home where she had spent the past months. Prior to that Theresa lived at the home of her daughter Josephine with whom she shared her daily life for the past 35 years. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She was an extraordinary mother and person who put family first and loved life. Her strength and tenacious spirit will forever inspire her family and friends. We are proud benefactors of a rich inheritance of her Italian American history and culture. Theresa was born April 17, 1913 in Wehrum, Pennsylvania. The daughter of Franco and Clorinda (Papini) Caprino. She was a resident of Coy, Coral and currently Indiana. She was a longtime member of the St. Francis Church in Coral (Our Lady of the Assumption Parish) and St. Bernard Church, Indiana. Theresa retired from the Torrance State Hospital. Her many joys included gatherings of family and friends over her long life. She loved her church, music and dancing, enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, traveling when she was able, and caring for her family. She was gifted in handiwork, crocheting and knitting sweaters for babies in the family as well as Birthright and constantly knitting afghans and sweaters for those who asked. Theresa had an open and generous heart that affected all who knew her and was always especially willing to assist those less fortunate. She married Ferdinando (Fred) Santus in February of 1933.They spent many happy years raising a family through difficult times in a mining community before Fred passed away in 1958 at the age of 48. She later remarried briefly to Mike Pluchinsky. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred, husband Mike Pluchinsky, parents Frank and Clorinda Caprino and siblings, Guy Caprino (Adell), Elizabeth Wendt (Lewis), Grace Sniezyk (Steve), four siblings who passed as babies, and beloved son William. She is survived by her children Josephine Santus Buggey (Ray), Lewis Santus (Beverly), Carrol Santus Kalafus (Bill) and Raymond Santus (Charlene) and Williams fianc, Dorothy Warnick - Grandchildren: Karl Buggey (Donna), Evelyn Buggey Birbilas (Leo), William Buggey, Brian Buggey, Freddy Buggey, Gerard Buggey (Sally), Deanna Santus Lynch (Keith), Regina Santus Ferruzza(Steve), Laura Kalafus, Letitia Kalafus Calvert (Christopher), Terry Santus,( Bobbie Jo), Angelina Santus (Adam), Nina Santus, Great Grand Children Alena Bankal, Karlene Gutierrez, Ian Buggey, Richard Birbilas , Lea Birbilas, Teresa Jernigan - Raymond Buggey, Brittany Buggey, Brean Buggey, Lucy Ferruzza, Sophie Ferruzza, Kevin Lynch, Jacob Lynch, Aleecia Santus, William Calvert, Hayden Calvert, Heather Santus, Andrew Santus, Ashley Santus, and 13 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Family and friends will be received Sunday from 7-9 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Monday at 10:30AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site at 11AM with Rev. Father William Keil, the celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
