The Honorable Robert Clawson Earley

The Honorable Robert Clawson Earley, 87, died Friday, August 11, 2017. Robert was born on December 25, 1929 in Barnesboro, PA and was the son on Dr. Samuel and Evelyn Woodhead Earley. He grew up in Emigh, PA, a mining town. He studied one year at Mercersburg Academy and graduated from Cherry Tree High School in 1947 where he played basketball. Robert graduated from Washington College in 1952. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea and Japan from 1952-1954 reaching the rank of Sargent. In 1957, Robert graduated from Dickenson School of Law and practiced law in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Local State and National Bar Association. He tried cases in the Pennsylvania State Supreme and Superior Court and the 3rd Circuit Court of the United States. Robert became Assistant District Attorney in 1961. Robert was elected Judge of the Common pleas Court of Indiana County in the 40th Judicial District of PA in 1975 and 1985. He was a life member of the Allied Club and a member of the Indiana Country Club. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church and also served on the board at Greenwood Cemetery. He was a Mason and a member of F&AM #345, Coalport, Pennsylvania where he just received his 60 year pin. He retired in 1991 and moved to Ocean City, Maryland in 2003 and moved back to Indiana, Pennsylvania in 2012. Robert is survived by his wife Louise Anderson Earley, Indiana, whom he married in 2005, one son Stephen C. Earley, Marietta GA., and two daughters Evelyn Earley, Indianapolis, Indiana and Samantha and husband Michael Karcewski, Pottstown, PA. Robert is also survived by three grandchildren Logan, Brandon and Ethan. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, first loving wife of 52 years, Hazel in 2004, one brother Samuel Earley and one son Robert Samuel Earley. Friends will be received, Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. David J. Hanna and Rev. Richard L. Cassel, officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana where graveside Military Rites will be held.
