Susanna Bondra (Sue) Kokolis

Susanna (Sue) Kokolis, 98, a resident of Indian Haven, formerly of Homer City, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018.Sue was born in Wilpen, PA, daughter of the late Peter and Susan Bondra on September 16, 1919. She married Nicholas Kokolis in December of 1938. He preceded in her in death on December 6, 1999. She was a member of Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Homer City where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. For many years she enjoyed getting together with the guild ladies to make pierogis for Christmas and paska for Easter. Sue was a homemaker and was known for her love of making quilts for her family. She always looked forward to hosting the family's traditional Christmas Eve meal at her home. Surviving are two sons, Samuel (Judith) Kokolis of Duncansville and Thomas (Luanne) Kokolis of Rock Hill, SC and one daughter, Barbara Rado of Homer City. Daughter-in-law, Beverly Kokolis of Indiana, nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive Sue. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward Kokolis, her granddaughter, Kimberly Moran, her son-in-law, Michael Rado, and nine brothers and one sister. Sue was the last surviving member of her family. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Parastas service will be held Friday afternoon at 3 PM at the funeral home. A Panachida will be held Saturday at 9:20 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Divine Liturgy at 10AM at the Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic, Homer City with Rev. Jerome Botsko, officiating. Interment to follow at the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA. Contribution to Holy Protection of Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City.
