Sophie Ann (Sekerak) Bichko, 89, Nanty Glo, died Oct. 24, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 18, 1925, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Phillips) Sekerak. Preceded in death by brothers, Andrew Sekerak Jr. and Paul Sekerak; sisters, Kay Gambino, Helen Cochenec and Elizabeth Nazarak; niece, Janet Topor; brother-in-law, John Topor; and son-in-law, Howard H. Bussard Jr. Survived by husband of 65 years, Paul T. Bichko, Johnstown; children, Paul A. Bichko, Nanty Glo, and Kathleen Livick, Carlisle; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amber) Livick, Chester Springs; Brittany Livick, Enola; Charlie T. Livick, Carlisle; and Amber R. Livick, Carlisle; and great-grandchildren, Owen H. and Dean H. Livick and Brycen M. Rott. Sister of Joseph (Jean) Sekerek, Nanty Glo; Mary Ann Topor, Ebensburg; and Theresa McHugh, Twin Rocks. Also niece, Carol Polites, Ebensburg, and many other nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary's Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Worked at the Cottage and the former Kathy's Restaurant and Candle Light Restaurant. Sophie was a devote Catholic and always put her family first. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Father Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery.
