Samuel E. Rura

Samuel E. Rura, 91, Coral died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at AristaCare at Hillsdale Park. He was the son of the late August and Anna (Smith) Rura and was born July 9, 1926 in Indiana. Sam was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, and the Jednota Lodge. He was also a Korean War Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #141, Indiana. Sam was a retired coal miner and a farmer and a member of the UMWA Local # 488. He is survived by his wife, Dolores I. (Kaylor) Rura; children, Susanne (Ralph) Muir, Penn View, Blairsville RD; Matthew F. Rura, Coral and Samuel (Thia), New Jersey; eight grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gertrude (Carl) Wimmer, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Skoff, and sisters, Ann Andrassy and Pauline Pribesh. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery, Coral.
