Ruby Arbutus (Holsopple) Jacob

Ruby Arbutus (Holsopple) Jacob, 99, passed away on March 06, 2018 at Richland Woods in Johnstown, PA. She was born on March 27, 1918 in Hollsopple, Pa to Roy Edmund and Emma Mae (Thomas) Holsopple. Ruby grew up in Hollsopple, Pa. In her early teens, she moved to Homer City, Pa graduating from Homer City High School, Pa in 1936. After graduation, she attended Indiana Business School earning an Associated Degree in 1938. Her first career was several different roles with the Mahoney Supply Company Store in Waterman, Pa. Ruby married Earl Victor Jacob on December 22, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pa. After marriage, she became a dairy farmers wife and a mother of three boys in Brush Valley, Pa. Ruby enjoyed her family and farm living. She found great joy and was proud of her three boys and the effort they devoted toward dairy farming and their families. She was a loving and gracious mother always putting her family and others before herself. Ruby is best known by friends for her caring kindness and gentle ways. She always found good in all circumstances and offered sound encouragement. She especially enjoyed the needle-arts: quilting, crocheting, needlework, and knitting. She knitted squares into her late nineties for the Indiana Workshop. Another favorite activity was wrapping Easter eggs for the Homer City Methodist Church. She enjoyed Smiling. Ruby is survived by her three boys: Roy E. Jacob of Elbridge, NY; Ronald Jacob and his wife Cindy (Montgomery) Jacob of Manassas VA; Raymond Jacob and his wife Christine (Kopp-Leonard) Jacob of Johnstown, PA; Seven Grandchildren: Roy S. Jacob, Jodylynn Jacob, LaDonna Jacob, Leigh Ann Jacob, Ray E. Jacob, Kevin Jacob, and John Jacob; Step-Granddaughter Patty Batten and Step-Grandson Chuck Batten; Twelve Great-Grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Emma Holsopple; husband Earl Jacob; Three sisters: Audrey Mae Holsopple (as a youth); Lillian Ruth Schweinsburg of Greensburg, PA; Dorothy Romaine Trevorrow of Ford City, PA. Family and Friends will be received at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, PA on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment in the Custer Cemetery. Fellowship luncheon to directly follow the Funeral Service at the Homer City Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to My Childs Footprints, 1433 Luzerne Street Ext. Johnstown, PA, or mychildsfootprints.org.
