Rose Rura Vilcek, 88 of Coral was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2013 while surrounded by family. Born on May 30, 1925, she was the daughter of Edward and Katarina Rura of Coral, PA and a 1942 graduate of Blairsville High School. She will be remembered for her strong love of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her family. Rose was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society, choir, CD of A, and Christian Mothers. She was a Eucharistic minister and taught CCD for 30 years. She was often known as the "Rosary Lady", making and giving away rosaries as a stewardship to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her rosaries have been sent all over the world to various missions and were passed out annually at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. She was a volunteer for Hospice and at St. Andrew's Village in Indiana, PA where she led prayer with residents. Rose enjoyed spending her time with her family and making food for people. Her smile, humor, and faith will be missed. She is survived by the following children, Ronald Vilcek of Blairsville, PA; John Vilcek (wife Maureen) of Blairsville, PA; Marilyn Sabota (husband George "Corky") of Bradenville, PA; Marianna Reed (husband John "JR") of Blairsville, PA; Rosemary Perry (husband Fred) of Coral, PA; Patricia Greenwald (husband Dave) of Maysville, KY; Tracy Galasso (husband Frank) of Homer City, PA and daughter-in-law Lisa Vilcek, wife of the late Goose Vilcek. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Rura (wife Lois) of Coral, PA; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gusty Vilcek, and her son, August "Goose" Vilcek. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ponchak, Sophia Gutt, Julia Haluska, Ann Liptak, Pauline Rura, Katie Rura, Sister Mary Barbara (Matilda Rura), Helen Busi and Martha Copelli. Friends will be received Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site with Fr. Ronald Cyktor and Msgr. Larry Kiniry, concelebrants. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery, Coral, PA.
