Rocco J. DeChurch, 72, Indiana died September 29, 2016 at Rosebrook Personal Care Home, Sarver, PA. He was the son of the late Larry and Helen (Sarra) DeChurch and was born August 23, 1944 in Homer City. He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish. Rocco enjoyed music and was an exceptional drummer. After retirement, he played with the Blairsville Community Band. He also enjoyed playing golf at the VFW with his friends and loved his dog, Paolo. Mr. DeChurch was a music teacher and taught school at Homer Center School District, traveled with his band and then taught music at the Apollo Ridge School District. He was also employed by the States Auditor General and later by the Treasurers Office until his retirement in 2007. He then moved back home in 2009. He is survived by his son, Daniel (Kelly) DeChurch, New Kensington; brother, Larry (Vicky) DeChurch, Indiana; sister, Dr. Elizabeth (John) Strenkowski, Murrysville and nephew, Anthony Strenkowski, Penn Hills. He is also survived by several cousins. We want to thank his close friend, Bob Ramsey for all of his kindness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nicola Alderson. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
