Richard Lewis Jones (Dick), 82, Homer City, died August 21, 2017 at his residence. He was the son of the late John H and Mary (Hicks) Jones and was born May 3, 1935 in Lucernemines. Dick was a member of the Homer City United Methodist Church, the American Softball Association and the Homer-Center Historical Society. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from FMC in Homer City and was a graduate of Laura Lamar Class of 1953. In 2006 he was inducted into the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame for his decades of participation in area softball as a player, coach, league commissioner and chief umpire. He is survived by his wife Rita (Troxell) Jones of Homer City and his son Rick Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two elder brothers Marvin L. and John H. (Pooch) Jones. The burial service will be private. A memorial service is planned for the near future.
