Richard S. Chesonis, 84 of Homer City died February 17, 2012 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Stanley and Isabel (Dervinnis) Chesonis and was born April 1, 1927 in Lucernemines. Mr. Chesonis was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, the Indiana VFW Post #1989 and the Homer City American Legion Post #493. He was also a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was employed as Postmaster at the Lucernemines Post Office for over 35 years. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years - Marian (Carnahan); 5 children - Christine and husband Wayne Abel of Shelocta; Jackie and husband Rudy Koren of Blairsville; Maria and husband Ray Bashore of Belford, NJ; Elizabeth and husband Barry Baker of Hillsdale and Richard Chesonis and wife Sheryl (Daugherty) of Homer City. 8 grandchildren- Max, Cody and Brett Baker; Katie Schiefer and Chelsey Koren; Lorree and Justine Abel and Nicholas Bashore. One sister - Betty Lou Jachym of Stockton, NJ and sister - in-law - Stephanie Chesonis of Homer City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers - Ben, Robert and sister - Julia Ondo. A private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site with Rev. Father William Kiel the Celebrant. Private interment to follow in the St. Louis Cemetery. Graveside Military Services will be conducted by the Homer City American Legion Post #493
