Pauline Baran Bondra, 90, of Homer City, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at Bethany Place. A daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Barron) Baran, she was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Coy. She was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Homer City. Pauline loved her granddaughters and enjoyed spending time with them. During World War II, she worked at Federated Labs making hand grenades and tear gas and also at Switlicks in Trenton, N.J., making parachutes. She is survived by her son, Michael Paul Bondra, and his wife Stefanie, of Export; two granddaughters, Skye and Fiona; a sister, Elizabeth Baran, of Homer City; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael; sisters, Ann, Susanna, and Mary Barbara; and brothers, John, George, and Michael. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, where a Panachida will be held at 7:30p.m. A second Panachida will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 10a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Homer City, with the Rev. Father Matthew Conjelko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to favorite charities.
