Paul Porch Jr.

Paul ‘PUNKIN' Porch, 84, died April 6, 2014 at his residence. He was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Kish) Porch and was born January 24, 1931 in Lucernemines. He was retired from Season-All and attended the Hope Lutheran Church in Homer City. He was a member of the Indiana VFW Post #1989 and the Homer City American Legion Post #493. Paul served as a member of Borough Council for 19 years from 1988 through 2006. The Borough recognized that service with a special plaque that is displayed in the Borough Building. He volunteered his time for numerous causes, was always willing to help someone out whether it was shoveling snow or helping them cross the street. He was also well known for his sometimes colorful opinions which were wide ranging and he wasn't bashful about voicing them whether you were in agreement or not. Paul is survived by his daughter, Melissa Porch and her husband, Tom Strausbaugh of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Tristan, Kaitlyn and Jacqueline Strausbaugh. He is also survived by one sister, Joan and her husband Fred DeCarlo of Homer City and two brothers, Joe Porch and his wife Joyce of Texas and Robert Porch and his wife Sharon of Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen; sisters, Irene Moales, Mary Nardy, Helen Berdie, Elizabeth Porch and brothers, Louis and John Porch. Friends will be received Monday, April 14, 2014 from 2-4PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Memorial Services will be held at 4PM at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Bond, officiating. Interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana
