Mary Joan Sabo Petrosky, 90 years old, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Homewood of Plum Creek, in Hanover, PA. Mary was the wife of Anthony Joseph "Tony" Petrosky, who passed away on May 28, 2008. Born in Clune, PA on December 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bukovich Sabo Kurcsics. Mary and Anthony were married on August 17, 1940. They lived in Lucernemines before moving to Homer City on Carlisle Street, living next door to her mother. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Lucernemines, PA and belonged to the Holy Rosary Society. They had three children to whom she was very devoted. Mary, an accomplished homemaker, loved to cook and bake. She shared many of her specialties with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed reading and knitting in her spare time. Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Fulmer and her husband Ken of Annapolis, MD; son, Rich Petrosky and his wife Dianne of New Oxford, PA; six beloved grandchildren, Denise Steckel of Annapolis, MD; Mark Fearing of Kitty Hawk, NC; Matthew Petrosky and wife Meg of Arlington, MA; Jeffrey Petrosky and wife Jennifer of Atlanta, GA; Steven Petrosky and wife Ashley of Macungie, PA; Lynn Morris and husband Rick of East Berlin, PA. She has five precious great grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Bryan Steckel of Annapolis, MD; Logan Morris of East Berlin; and Lukas Petrosky of Arlington, MA. Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph Sabo and wife Alberta of Ohio; Louis Kurcsics and wife Clara of Penn Run, PA; John Kurcsics of Ohio; sisters-in-law Mary Sabo of Ohio; Charlotte Kurcsics of Homer City, PA; brother-in-law Joe Widziszewski of Greensburg, PA; special nieces Karen Halldin, Brenda Arone and many other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her father when she was eight years old; her mother and step-father Frank Kurcsics; her loving husband Tony of sixty-eight years; her beloved son Gary who passed away at age four; brothers Frank Kurcsics, and Steve Sabo; sisters Janet Gearhart Widziszewski, Olga Bernard, and Beatrice Petrosky, and brother-in-law Joseph Bernard. Her family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff who took such loving care of her at Homewood, in Hanover, PA. She loved them all very much. Viewing will be Thursday, May 17, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, May 18 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines site with Rev Fr Ron Cyktor, the celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana, PA.
