Mary (Benak) M.

Mary M. Benak, 91, Pittsburgh died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Passavant Hospital. Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Vilcek) Benak and was born January 29, 1921 in Coral, PA. She was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral in Pittsburgh and a former member of St. Francis Church in Coral. Mary was also a 3rd order of St. Francis in Pittsburgh. She was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a statistical clerk. Mary was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan in good times and in bad, her excitement was contagious. Ms. Benak moved to the Vincentian Nursing Home when she was 87 where she was a stellar bingo player and trivia star. She was loved by all and her smile will be missed by many. Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters - Ann Riant and Victoria Rex and her brothers - Frank and Martin Benak. Friends will be received Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of Blessing Service at 10:30 AM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, 4606 Old US Hwy 119 South, Homer City, PA 15748. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11: 00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site with Rev. Father Ron Cyktor, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
