Maria Lisabetta Martini, age 92 of Homer City passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Shadyside Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on January 18, 1924 in Rovere Veronese, Italy and was the daughter of Ernesto and Josephine (Garonzi) Sauro. Maria was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. Her life centered around her family and her church. She looked forward to having friends and family at her home for Sunday dinners and special occasions She was also very proud of becoming a United States citizen in May 1983. It was an honor for her to say the Pledge of Allegiance, sing the National Anthem and exercise her right to vote. She faithfully cast her vote each and every year since she became a citizen. She was looking forward to casting her vote in this very important upcoming election. Maria is survived by 2 daughters Josephine (William) Usko, Graceton, Anna (Barry McKnight) Luther, Indiana and 1 son Richard (Dana) Martini, Homer City. She is also survived by the following grandchildren; Rena (Alex) Kuzneski, Indiana, Krista Martini, Homer City, Alicia Clark, Indiana, Julie (Mike) Arone, Homer City, Michael (Rebecca) Usko, Blairsville, Emily (Jeff Bruckhart), Mercersburg, PA, and Anthony (McKenzie) Martini, Indiana. She is also survived by Great Grandchildren Kate, Tess and Eve Kuzneski; Orlando, Gabriella and Lucia Clark; Makenzie, Aidan and Isabella Arone; and special little friend, Olivia Bruckhart. She is survived by 1 sister Gina (Silvio) Colman of Verona, Italy; her sister-in-law Mary Martini and daughter-in-law Paula Martini, nieces Marie (Rick) Russell; Betsy (Steve) Lancaster, Catherine (Steve) Barre, Gina (Sean) Lenon; and nephew John Martini; and her local Garonzi family; Flo Pace, Reno Garonzi, Tulio Garonzi, Inez (John) Mouser, Jeanne (Herman) Blakely, June Garonzi and many Italian nieces, , nephews and other loving Parenti still in Italy. Maria is preceded in death by husband Orlando Martini, son Reno J. Martini, brothers Stefano and Nello Sauro; brother-in-law Bruno Martini, father-in-law Oreste Martini. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
