Larry Joseph Johnston, age 61, of Homer City died August 15, 2013 at Shadyside Hospital. Larry was the son of Joseph Franklin and Eleanor (Shaffer) Johnston. He was born on August 17, 1951 in Greensburg, PA. We celebrate the life of Larry J. Johnston who knew the LORD Jesus as his personal Savior and share his love for him to all. Larry loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Red Barn Sportsman's Club, Shelocta Sportsman's Club, and the Two Lick Boating Association. He also loved hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He was formerly employed by Beckwith Machine. Larry is survived by wife Diane S. (Stango) Johnston; 5 children, Laura (William) Sigmund of New Florence, Dianne ( Steven) Guile of Homer City, Douglas (Heather Tyger) Johnston, Ryan (Tina) Johnston of Strongstown and Sarah Leydic of Indiana. He is also survived by grandchildren Joshua Filler, Ashley Pitzerell, Jessica Boring, Jennie and James Hirsch, Jr., Levi Johnston, Phoenix Grillo, Morgan, Kateri and Joseph Johnston, Nathan Myers and Gabrielle Leydic. One great granddaughter Brooke Mack also survives him. Larry is also survived by his brothers and sisters, June (Rich Palantino) Johnston, Don ( Judy) Johnston of Salt Lake City, Utah, Thomas Johnston of Columbia, SC, Dorothy Clawson of Clymer and Tim (Cindy Duffalo) Johnston of Shelocta and sister-in-law Kathy Mackes of State College In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Joan Henry, Nancy Westover, Robert Johnston, Judy Johnston, and by his brother-in-law Eugene Clawson. In honoring the wishes of Larry, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
