Judith A. Oswalt, 72, of Indiana, PA went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Saint Josephs East Hospital, KY. She was born December 6, 1943 in Indiana, PA the daughter of Robert and Betty Jeffrey. She was a member of Homer City United Methodist Church and served on the church council. She retired from Homer Center Elementary School after 38 wonderful years of teaching where she received teacher of the year. She took great pride in helping her students become the best they could be. Her family meant everything to her. She was a wonderful cook and loved having family and special guests at her house for holiday celebrations. She will be remembered for her delicious holiday meals. She greatly enjoyed caring for and spending time with grandchildren Jessica and Colten and watching them grow into wonderful young adults, and she loved watching grandson Andrew over breaks and attending all of his sporting events. She took great joy in sharing stories and accomplishments with family and friends about her grandchildren and Jeff, her son, and Julie, her daughter all of whom she treasured. She lived life to its fullest enjoying family vacations to the beach, taking cruises, visiting Disney, hosting picnics, going camping, attending Steelers parties at Julies, going to the annual Rustic Inn for wings at Jeffs, and holding the annual Easter Egg Hunt at her house. Being an energetic and active lady, she gardened, read many books, played cards with special lady friends, watched many movies, went bowling, cared for animals, and was an avid dancer at weddings and other events. She also was often asked to be the toast master at various events, the prayer giver at receptions and dinners, and a general motivational person to all. People who knew aka Mrs. Oswalt were graced by a Christian, loving woman who was a selfless giver. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Oswalt, Pleasantville; her daughter Julie Barris and significant other Ellis Warnick, Blairsville; grandchildren: Jessica Oswalt and fianc Craig Kennedy, Titusville; Colten Oswalt, Oil City; and Andrew Barris, Blairsville; her dear friend Ron Hughes a blessing to her, Indiana; and several aunts and numerous cousins. She also had fond memories of her Homer Center teacher friends and administrators and many students over the years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Oswalt, and her brother John Jeffrey. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City. Visitation will also be held on Friday at the Homer City United Methodist Church from 10 AM until time of service at 11AM with the Rev. Katrina Laude officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Homer City United Methodist Church or the Indiana County Humane Society.
