Joseph Edward Rura

Joseph Edward Rura, 86, Coral died Friday, November 17, 2017 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Smrek) Rura and was born October 17, 1931 in Coral. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, First Catholic Slovak Union, Jednota Branch #484, Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council, Lucernemines and the Homer City Historical Society. He was also a United States Army Veteran. Joseph was employed by Robert Shaw, worked on the family farm and enjoyed attending his grandchildrens activities. Joseph is survived by one daughter, Anne Reicherter and husband Frank, Edgewater, MD; one son, James E. and wife Shamrock Rura, Coral and five grandchildren Franky and Sofia Reicherter, Jaime, Tommy and Riley Rura In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 2014; sisters, Mary Ponchak, Sophia Gutt, Julia Haluska, Ann Liptak, Pauline Rura, Katie Rura, Sister Mary Barbara (Matilda Rura), Helen Busi and Martha Copelli and Rose Vilcek Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Parting Prayers will be recited Tuesday at 9:30AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
