John Ross (Jack) Rumbaugh, age 92, of Brush Valley died July 21, 2016. He was was born in Homer City on July 11, 1924 where he resided for 71 years before moving to Brush Valley, Pa 21 years ago. The son of Ross Roy and Charlotte Irene (Jacoby) Rumbaugh, he retired after 38 years from Syntron Company (FMC), Homer City and had worked at the Elliott Company, Jeanette, Pa. A member of the Brush Valley Calvary United Methodist Church, he served in the US Air Force during WWII in Italy and Egypt. Jack was a member of VFW Post #1989 of Indiana, American Legion Post #493, Homer City and AARP #258. He graduated from Homer City High School in 1942 and was a member of Brush Valley Senior Citizens and Homer City Friends (formerally Homer City Senior Citizens.) Flying missions to Egypt and Italy, he celebrated his 21st birthday during WWII while grounded in the Alps at Brenner Pass because of fog and had to eat rations to celebrate. He is survived by wife Anna Mae, daughter Christine Rumbaugh, Homer City and son Thomas and wife Patricia of Takoma Park, MD. He is also survived by grandson Alexander Ross and granddaughter Sarah Fortunata Rumbaugh. He is also survived by 'adopted children' Buzz Amadei, Greg and Vickie Kerr and children Chelsey Baroni and Kolby Kerr. Special nieces and nephews: Larry, Tom, and Jack Marshall; Ray and Barry Hobson; Ruth Ann Gray; John Thomas; Colletta Stickel. Jack is preceded in death by parents and sister Helen Irene Rumbaugh Kobrock of New Orleans, LA. Jack was an avid supporter of the Homer City Boosters and participated in Syntron Company bowling leagues, noted for bowling a 300 game and enjoyed golf and precious time with family. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Griffith, officiating, followed by military funeral rites conducted by the American Legion Post #493, Homer City.
