John Pete Kozele

John Pete Kozele, 90, of Homer City passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born November 4, 1928 in Homer City and was the son of Frank, Sr. and Josephine (Zeman) Kozele. John was a veteran of the Korean War and member of the American Legion. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church and member of the KSKJ American Slovenian Catholic Union. John or "Bucky" was well-known in the community for his block, brick and stone masonry work. After his retirement from FMC Corporation in 1991, John enjoyed many hobbies, especially woodworking and participating in craft shows with his wife, Margaret. He also loved spending time with his family and dog, Mitzi. Another passion of Johns' was polka music. He enjoyed playing his guitar and button box with his family and friends. John always wanted to take care of others including his loving care givers who were taking care of him at his home. He is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Anderson and husband, Ed of Chandler, AZ and Judy Duxbury and husband, Bill of Vandergrift, PA; one granddaughter, Danielle (Morrow) Clifford and husband Tyler of Homer City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews locally and out of state. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret (Michna) Kozele, four brothers, Frank, Jr., Joseph, Martin, and William; four sisters, Josephine Kosmack, Stephanie Chesonis, Mary Veneziano, and Jean Pogoda; and nephew Mathew Fulmer. Friends will be received at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8pm Thursday. On Friday, a blessing service will be held at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
