John A. Hubish, 80, of Indiana, died August 7, 2013 at Indiana Regional Medical Center due to multiple health problems. The son of Anthony and Mary (Hryckowran) Hubish, John was born January 10, 1933. He graduated from Homer City High School and belonged to Saints Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Catholic Church John served his country as a Radar Operator in the U.S. Army and later as a Fuel Supply Specialist in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Torrance State Hospital before beginning a 33 year career as a custodian at IUP, where, because of his good nature, he made many friends among students, faculty and administration. John enjoyed calligraphy, doing charcoal or lead pencil drawings, taking his mother or friends for leisurely drives to explore Indiana Country and surrounding areas and reminiscing about his years growing up in Homer City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Rose Mary (Hubish) Johnston and Anna Mae Hubish, and his brother Joe Hubish. He is survived by his brother Sam Hubish of Cleveland, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the C. Frederick Bowser funeral home from 10 to 1 on Saturday, August 10th. Interment will be private.
