Jarvie J. Watterson

Jarvie J. Watterson, 64, Karns City, PA, formerly of Homer City, passed away on February 25, 2013 in Butler. He was born May 12, 1948 in Indiana, PA and was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. and Helen (Myers) Watterson.
 
Jarvie was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War and served as a telecommunications specialist in the Panama Canal Zone. Jarvie was honorably discharged in May 1970 and he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service. 
 Jarvie had several jobs, but worked primarily in route sales and as a truck driver. Over the years, Jarvie worked for Dell Farm Grocery; McCreary Tire Co.; S.W. Jack Drilling; Mister Donut; Long Airdox; the Homer City Generating Station; and Electro-Mec, amongst a few other companies. He owned and operated the Bresler's 33 Flavors Ice Cream Shop in the Indiana Mall from 1984 through 1986 and was an owner/operator of an express trucking delivery service. 
Jarvie is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary McElroy of Karns City, PA and his children: Chief Warrant Officer Four (U.S. Army) Matthew J. Watterson, Sr. and wife Cynthia (Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army Retired) of Ithaca, NY and their children Christopher, Shemaira and Matthew, Jr.; Dr. Lucas C. Watterson and wife Amy (Dr.) of Morgantown, WV and their children Alissa and Lydia; Heidi D. Watterson and her son Sebastian of Pittsburgh, PA; step-son Jess D. McElroy (Staff Sergeant, U.S. Air Force Retired) and Lanita Jowers of Merkel, TX. Jarvie is also survived by his sister Amy W. Lingenfelter and her husband Duane Lingenfelter of Allen, TX, and by Karen C. (Ober) Trost (mother of Matthew, Lucas, and Heidi) and her husband John Trost of Erie PA. Friends will be received Thursday from 5-7 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City, and Friday from 12 PM - 3 PM. A memorial service will be held following visitation at 3 PM on Friday at the funeral home. A private ceremony for family will be held later and Jarvie will be placed to rest with his parents at Greenwood Ceremony, in Indiana, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Visiting Nurses' Association (VNA) Inpatient Hospice of Butler County.
