Jamier Francisco "Frank" Benavidez, of Homer City, PA, formerly of New Mexico, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He was born May 24, 1978 in Hobbs, NM, the son of Jamier Francisco Benavidez and Glenda R. Roach. Frank graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1996. While attending the University of New Mexico, where he studied fine arts, he met his beautiful roommate Holly and later married her on April 19, 2003 in Las Vegas. Frank was also a graduate of the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, specializing in Harley Davidson mechanics. He later earned his Bachelor's degree in Safety Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Frank worked as a safety supervisor for Penn Mechanical Group. Those who knew Frank loved his "jack of all trades, master of none" ideas and hobbies. He had many different interests and enjoyed exploring all of them. Frank threw pottery, enjoyed painting anything of interest, was a motorcycle mechanic, an amateur tattoo artist, and recently began hunting - those were just some of his hobbies. He also loved his 1975 Shovelhead Harley motorcycle that was his father's, doing yard and garden work, and building large bonfires in his backyard while spending time with family and friends. NPR was his favorite radio station and he was a big supporter of the organization. Frank's children were his pride and joy. Whether it was reading comic books with his son, Domingo, or playing with his daughter, Zoey, on their swing set, he always made sure they knew how much he loved them. His children have wonderful memories of fishing with their dad that included going on adventures to get crickets for their pet bearded dragon, Spike, dog training the family dog, Willy, and of course lounging with Finn, the cat. He was also a proud supporter of the local public library and often took his children there. Frank was a kind man who could talk to anyone about anything and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Holly R. (Ondo) Benavidez; adoring children, Domingo O. Benavidez and Zoey O. Benavidez, both at home; mother, Glenda R. Roach, of La Luz, NM; step-mother, Beth Benavidez, of Thermopolis, WY; favorite niece, LaVada Walbeck; and one of a kind nephew, Justin Walbeck. Frank was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2014 and Monday from 10 until time of service at 11AM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 4606 Old US 119 Hwy S., Homer City.
