Robert James Jeffrey went to be with his Savior and Lord on November 7, 2011. He died peacefully at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Bob was born on May 3, 1924 in Punxsutawney, Pa the son of Ruth Curry Jeffrey and Robert James Jeffrey, Sr. He attended the Lucerne and Homer City Schools. His church membership was with the Homer City United Methodist Church and he regularly attended Ferguson Bible Church and made many lasting friendships. Mr. Jeffrey enlisted into the US Army for the duration of World War II. His decoration/citation was the EAME Theater Ribbon. His duty was a chauffer (jeep driver) for General Troy H. Middleton and a few times for General Patton. This American Soldier extended his military service into the PA National Guard for 25 years where he was known as Dude. Bob retired form Westinghouse in Blairsville after 30 years and was elected union president for 13 years. He was valued for his fair negotiations and contributions to the employees. His many joys included: holiday celebrations with feasts prepared by his wife and daughter, vocal performances by his granddaughter, Julie; hunting at the farm with son John, son in law, Jack, grandson and great-grandson Jeff and Colten, as well as others; NASCAR (the Earnharts), gardening (his famous garlic from Italy); his dogs (Major and Mandy); dining out, traveling; and helping family and friends. Mr Jeffreys memberships included the American Legion, NRA, life member of the VFW, and a member of the Scottish Rite of Masons. Known as Uncle Bob to many, he was the heart, soul, and storyteller of the family. He was adored and will be greatly missed. His last years were spent living with his daughter and son-in-law. They all felt blessed and enriched by each other's company. Survived by his daughter, Judith Oswalt; grandchildren Jeff Oswalt and fiancé Pam Haux, Titusville, Julie Barris, Blairsville; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Colten Oswalt and Andrew Barris; sister, Arlene Moreno; sisters-in-law, Mary Constantino, Mary Jeffrey, and Joanne Simon; children of Louise Jeffrey (Craig and Rebecca), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins with fond memories of Bob and Laura Jeffrey. A special note of thanks to Sheryl Nanz, Vicki Regan, Barb Fedoruk, and Bobby Jeffrey (nephew). He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Jeffrey, son John Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Louise Jeffrey, son-in-law Jack Oswalt, sisters Betty Jeffrey and Carole Huston, brother LE "Fat" Jeffrey, brother-in-laws Dick Constantino, George Moreno, John Simon and Louie Simon, parents Robert and Ruth Jeffrey, parents-in-law John and Julia Simon. Family and Friends will be received from Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the Homer City United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Stains officiating. There will be viewing at the church from 10:00 to 11:00AM.
