Helen (Smicklo) Preall

Helen Preall, 97, born 4 June, 1913 in Westmoreland County, PA, passed away 7 March 2011 at the Communities of Indian Haven, Indiana, PA She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine (Sandy) Smicklo, and her beloved husband, Frank (Spider) Preall. The oldest of 11 children, she was also preceded in death by 5 brothers (Frank, George, John, Edward and Edmund Smicklo) and 5 sisters (Stella Meyers, Sophia Brown, Frances Bella, Mary Zebrowski and Florence Cometa). She is survived by her daughters, Norma and Steve Pavelchick, Brush Valley, PA, Cathy and Jim Hutton, Mayville, NY as well as 4 grandchildren, Stephen and Linda Pavelchick, Brush Valley, PA, Timothy and Barbara Pavelchick, Blairsville, PA, Kirsten and Brent Calhoon, Ashville, VA and Joshua and Maribel Hutton, Youngsville, NC. She had 6 great grandchildren (Ryan Pavelchick, Lisa Pavelchick, Adam Pavelchick, Lawson Calhoon and Gabriela and Auribel Castillo, and one great great grandson, Garrett Brewer. A Homemaker, Helen was the family's glue. She was a grand cook who showed her love by feeding well her family and friends. In the spring, she loved to feel the newly dug dirt on her hands as she prepared her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed crocheting and mastered the arts of knitting and tatting. The world was a little better for having her in it. Friends may be received Saturday, March 12th from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at the Brush Valley United Methodist Church, Brush Valley with Rev John Logan, officiating.
