Giovanna P. Aloise, 79, was called to be with the Lord January 29, 2017 surrounded by her family at home. Born June 29, 1937 she was the daughter of Giovanni (John) and Vencenza (Jennie) Cicola. Giovanna was a 1954 graduate of Elders Ridge High School. She moved to Dearborn Michigan in 1955, where she was a Bell Telephone operator. Upon moving back to Pennsylvania she married Joseph B. Aloise, August 24, 1963. In 1965 she was blessed with her first child, a daughter, Diane and in 1968 a blessing of her son, Joe. She attended Dorinda's Beauty School. Besides being a wife and mom, she did office managerial work most of her life. From Olan Mills Portrait Studios, Fraternal Order of Police annual music shows, Spring Meadow Apartment leasing manager, Moore Hall and Jamestown apartment leasing manager and D's 422 West Side Salon receptionist. Giovanna resided in Kent, PA most of her life until her stroke in February 2009. She then resided in Indiana with her daughter Diane. Giovanna was a loving devoted Mother, Nana and friend. She lived her life putting her family first and making friends was so easy for her, no matter where she went. She enjoyed country and gospel music. She loved going to the casino to gamble. One of her fondest memories was going to Atlantic City for a gambling weekend with her children for her 70th birthday. In February 2009 she had a major stroke which left her bedridden. Every day she kept a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Her never ending love of God kept her faith constant and strong. With every health battle she faced, she met it head on with strength and determination. She believed and said 'Never Ever Give Up' Such an inspiration and courageous soul. She is survived by her daughter Diane Joni Dalessio, Indiana; son Joseph Vincent Aloise and wife Karen, Indiana;; granddaughters, Brianna Jennie Dalessio and Nicole Sheree Aloise. She's also survived by her sisters Carmella Fink, Dearborn MI, Elizabeth Madey, Homer City, PA, Rose Ann Gundy, Indiana, PA and Josephine Cassiere, Homer City, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bruno Aloise. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be recited at 9:15 AM Thursday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, Indiana. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery
