George E. Stelma

George E. Stelma, 76, of Homer City passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital after years of courageously battling several illnesses. The son of Victor and Mary (Kotzur) Stelma, he was born April 2, 1938 in Graceton. George was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. He was employed by FMC and upon retirement, worked at Flo's Floral with his friend Bob Gnibus. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan and also loved camping where he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. George also treasured time spent traveling with his wife to visit great grandchildren. George was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Skultety) Stelma; children, George A., of Florida; Patrick H., of California; John M. (Regina), of Maryland and Christine L., of Homer City, who along with her mother cared for him for several years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, five grandchildren, Michael, Elena, Sara, Jessica (Brendan) Wise and Matthew; and seven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Brandon, Sophia, Ethan, Emma, Eliana and Logan, as well as "adopted Grandchildren" Beth, Eric, Isabelle, Anthony, and Nathaniel. George is also survived by two brothers, Victor (Eleanor) Stelma, of Indiana and Eugene (Beverly) Stelma, of Chambersburg; Uncle Nick and aunts Sue and Julia; special cousin, Edith, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Michael B. Stelma and his beloved dog Mishka. Friends will be received Friday from 6-8PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City where a Blessing Service will be held Saturday at 9:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site with Rev. Fr. Ron Cyktor, the celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
