Gary Wayne Dill

Gary Wayne Dill, 68, of Buffington Township, passed away peacefully July 10, 2019, at Cambria Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Gary exhibited courage and a fighting spirit during his prolonged illness. Son of Alfred Wayne Dill and Ada Mae (Mitchell) Dill, he was born August 1, 1950, in Indiana, PA Gary spent 18 years in the coal mining industry including Lion Mining, GM&W Coal, and the Helen Mining Company. His second career spanned 18 years as the owner operator of Gary's Industrial Lumber. In recent years Gary enjoyed the time he spent with his friends from the Amish Community. Gary enjoyed golfing, going to car shows, mowing grass, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, his extended family from North Carolina, and his beloved dog Maggie. Gary is survived by his mother Ada; his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary Ann (Pluchinsky) Dill; his children, Michelle Carpenter (Joe) of Ebensburg, PA; Kristie Dalton (Jeff) of Newark, Delaware; and Chad Dill (Tracey), Buffington Township; his grandchildren, Rebekah Pinkowski, Rachel Pinkowski, Harrison Dalton, Maddie Dalton, and Greyson Dill; his siblings, Rick Dill and Vicky (Dill) Markel and husband Rick; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends and family will be received at C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, from 2 to 8 PM Sunday and funeral services will be at 11 AM on Monday at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Buffington Township Park, 4575 Route 403 Highway South, Homer City, PA 15748.
