Frank Francis Ferra, Sr., 94, Homer City died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late Phillip and Mary (Gaspara) Ferra and was born May 22, 1917 in Punxsutawney, PA. Mr. Ferra was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired Coal Miner having worked at the R & P Coal Company for 22 years and he also worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 15 years. He enjoyed bowling and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Mr. Ferra is survived by his wife of 71 years the former Helen (Yanity) Ferra; Son - Frank Ferra and wife Debbie Ferra of Blairsville; Grandson - Brian Ferra and wife Melanie Ferra of Natrona Heights; Granddaughter - Diane Antonacci and husband Dan Antonacci of Indiana and Great Grandchildren - Maia Dominic and Niko Ferra and Isabella and Julia Antonacci. He is also survived by one sister - Julia Monaco of Bradenton, FL In addition to his parents, Mr. Ferra was preceded in death by an infant son - Ronald Ferra; brothers - Dan Ferra and Nick Ferra and sisters - Rose Riscinto, Margaret Kelly, Theresa Pennaco and Angeline Kemmer. Friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site with the Rev. Father Terry Hercik, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
