Francis Grego

Francis C. Grego, 84, of Blairsville, died December 13, 2024, at the Latrobe Hospital. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Bresnock) Grego and was born September 16, 1940.

Francis was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and vacationing at Myrtle Beach with his family. Francis also enjoyed walking his two dogs, Bradshaw and Max, going to casinos, and watching westerns on TV. He was an avid sports fan and a football official for over 30 years, and he loved watching all of Pittsburgh's sports teams. 

He was employed at Season-All as an accountant. He became a corporate controller at Westinghouse in Derry, PA, which later became Industrial Ceramics, Inc. Francis also has a private accounting business that he started in 1972 and had customers throughout Indiana and Westmoreland County and beyond. He created lifelong friendships with all of his clients. He retired from Westinghouse at the age of 55, and at that time, he focused on his private accounting business until 2021, when he officially retired from the workforce. 

Francis is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Kathleen (Patrick) Murray, Blairsville; Patricia (Gary) Maruca, Shelocta; Christine (Eddie) Kowchuck, Indiana; and Frank (Holly) Grego, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and his grandchildren, Maria Frances, Anthony Lanham and Dominic Edward, all of Indiana. 

He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Grego of Pennsylvania Furnace, PA, along with many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law and his sister-in-law, Julie. 

Family and friends will be received Monday from 9 AM until the time of the Blessing Service at 11:15 at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Homer City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Francis's name.
