Eugene R. Stelma

Eugene R. “Gene” Stelma, 78, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 13, 1943 in Graceton, PA, he was the son of the late Victor and (Mary Kotzur) Stelma.

Following high school he served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge. Gene was employed by R&P as a mechanic in the coal mines for over 25 years, retiring in 1993. Gene was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church, Chambersburg where he enjoyed volunteering. He also enjoyed playing board games, dancing, gardening and traveling to the Outer Banks, NC.

He is survived by his wife Beverly (Fickes) Stelma who he married September 12, 2013; three children, Christopher Stelma and his wife Carrie of Irwin, PA, Mary Stelma of Saltsburg, PA and James Aaron and his wife Diane of Blairsville, PA; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Aiden, Ellarae, Ethan, Evelene, Tyler and Zach; a brother Victor Stelma and his wife Eleanor of Indiana, PA.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Rae (Dellamuro) Stelma and two brothers, Michael and George Stelma.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-2 PM, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Bowser Funeral Home and Funeral Services, Inc., Homer City. Graveside Military Services will be held at 2:30 at the St  Francis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Testament Baptist Church Missions Fund, 5444 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202 checks can be made out to NTBC Missions Funds.
