Dorothy Mare Kintz Hoare passed away on March 26, 2025. She was born on October 1, 1933, in Blairsville, the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy (Devers) Kintz.She married Donald George Hoare on March 3, 1956, and was married to him for 30 years until his death in 1986.Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Patrick) Scanlon; Jan (Stan) Rosporski; and her grandchildren, Adam (Jill), Eddie, David, and Anna Rosporski; and Justine (Derrick) Winger and Ryan (Laurin) Scanlon. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Cassie and Kaylee Winger; Anderson, Jackson, and Ryan Scanlon; Madison Heckman; and Sam Gareis, along with her sister-in-law, Betty Hoare.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hoare; her sons, Donnie and David Hoare; her granddaughter, Kalynne Kristine Scanlon; her sister, Eleanor Thomas; and her son-in-law, Barry Caprino.
Dorothy worked at Shop N Save in the bakery department and enjoyed line dancing and square dancing with the Silver Spurs. She was active in the Altar Rosary Society at St. Louis Catholic Church and volunteered for various activities at the church, including the Lenten Pierogi Sale and Mercy Meals. She also volunteered with VNA Hospice. Dorothy traveled extensively in Europe, touring Italy, England, Wales, and Ireland. Her first trip to Poland was in 1996, where she helped escort her three adopted grandchildren to their new home. She also enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff, both past and present, of Heritage Grove (formerly Indiana Square) and Via Quest Hospice, especially Tracy, Kat, Lisa, Jen, and Onnie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish.
Friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. in Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucerne Site, with Father Joseph Pham, O.F.M., Cap. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana.
