Donald "Bernie" Burnheimer, 80, of Homer City, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at home. He was the son of Sherd and Amanda (Nicewronger) Burnheimer and was born August 11, 1932 in Homer City. He was a member of the Homer City Church of the Nazarene, VFW Post#1989, Indiana and the American Legion Post #493. Bernie was a very devoted to his GOD and his family. He was a retired Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. Bernie was retired from FMC where he worked as a field technician. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence "Dolly" Andrie; children, Timothy (Karen), Homer City; David (Pamela), Homer CIty; Jamie (James) Mack, Homer City and Doudlas (Patty) of Coral. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Snyder, Jacob Burnheimer, Jenna Tanner, Julie Burnheimer, Allie Hancock, Andrea Mack, Courtney Burnheimer and 3 step grandchildren. Great Grandchildren, Peyton, Rowen, Kendall and Addison; brothers and sisters, Leroy, Blairsville; Donna Burnheimer, Homer City; Edna Mae Sheehy, IL; Peggy (Dale) Shank, Homer City and Wayne (Donna) McQuiston Homer City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald; sisters Helen Mogel, Betty Stuchell and Hazel cain. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, and at the Homer City Church of the Nazarene on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of the funeral service, with the Rev. Charles Lockard officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by local veterans' organizations.
