Diane Jean (Buenting) Eppley

Diane Jean Buenting Eppley, 79, of Indiana, went to be with Jesus Monday, July 29, 2019.

The daughter of Adolph John and Judith Nalene Strother Buenting, she was born March 5, 1940, in Pittsburgh.

She was raised in East McKeesport, attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and earned her bachelor's degree in dietetics with a minor in business. Diane met her husband, Robert L. Eppley, there and they were married in 1961.

She worked as a food supervisor at Penn State while Bob worked on his doctorate in organic chemistry. They moved to Homer City in 1969. Diane went to work for Amerigas of Indiana and then retired from First Commonwealth Bank in 2011.

Diane was an active member of Homer City United Methodist Church and served more than 30 years as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, hand bell participant and most recently the card ministry. She was a member of the Ideal Friendship Class and Woman's Club (past President).

Diane was often giving someone a ride to church or to the store. She enjoyed her family, reading, crafting and knitting. In the last few years, she knitted mini prayer shawls that were given away by her daughter, pastors and Shephen Ministers of Grace United Methodist Church.

Diane is survived by two children, Rex Warren Eppley and Kathleen Margaret Jennings (husband Allen Wayne); a brother, John Warren Buenting (wife Mary Anne Buenting); five grandchildren: Justin Edward Eppley; Nicole Rose Vasbinder (husband Mark); Haley Elizabeth Neal (husband Andrew); Kevin Benjamin Jennings; and Jessie Kathleen Jennings; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Diane in death were her husband, Bob, and her parents.

Friends will be received Aug. 10 from 2:30 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 4 p.m. for Diane and her husband, Bob, at the Homer City United Methodist Church with a dinner to follow.
