Dennis Denny James Evanko Sr., 61, of Josephine, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at home. He was born Sept. 30, 1955, in Indiana, the son of John Paul and Pauline Helen (Skoff) Evanko. He attended Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Coral, and was a loving father and grandfather. Anybody who knew him would agree his greatest loves in life were his four grandchildren. He was tickled and honored to have a son and grandson carry on his name. He had been retired for more than 20 years, and he enjoyed archery hunting with his Excalibur crossbow, fishing and doing handyman work around the house. If anything was ever broken, he always created a plan and invention to make a solution. Over the past several years, he accepted God in his life, prayed daily, and was committed to the Catholic faith. He will be sadly missed, but forever in the hearts of all those in his life. Dad, I love you. Denny is survived by children Dennis James (Bethany) Evanko Jr., of Pittsburgh, and Laura Kathleen Evanko (Derek Willochell), New Derry; grandchildren Maxwell Taylor, Dennis James III, Elizabeth Dae and Kira Layne; siblings Patricia (Ed) Pedaci, of Mentor, Ohio; Joan (Art) Peterman, of Indiana; John (Virginia), of New Alexandria; Ronald (Patricia), of Blairsville; George (Kathleen), of Josephine; and Robert (Carmaline Vallo), of Greensburg. He was preceded in death by aunts Anna Piscevich, Bertha Evanick, Frances Peternay, Margaret Semon and Edith Kintz; uncles Gabe, Pete, Ed, Steve and George; a nephew, Eric Evanko; and a great-niece Marla McBride. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Cemetery, Coral. C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City is in charge of the arrangements.
