David Nicholas Kotzur, 66, Homer City died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his late residence. He was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Kundla) Kotzur and was born December 20, 1951 in Indiana, PA. David was a member of Club Savoy and the UMWA. He was also a PIAA football official for 28 years and a member of the PIAA. He loved trains and also enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. David loved playing polka music and was the lead singer and drummer for the polka band Starshine and was a DJ for the Sunday morning Polka Show on Radio 1160 AM. David enjoyed weekends spent at the Ungrapeful Winery in Blairsville and Concerts in the Park in Indiana while enjoying ethnic foods, especially pirogies. David was employed at Specialty Tire, was a coal miner for 23 years and retired working as a Federal Mine Inspector. He is survived by his wife Arlene (Reed); children, Mara Kotzur, Lakeland, FL; Andrew Kotzur and fiancee, Jessica Heredia, Orlando, FL; Jeremy Toney, Rainville, WV; Joseph Toney, St. Clairsville, OH and Jan Eren and husband Jeremy, South Charleston, WV. David is also survived by three granddaughters, Hannah Toney, Hailey Toney and Emma Eren. His brother, Joseph Kotzur and wife Cherie, Homer City and two nephews, Sam and Joey Kotzur, Ocean City, MD also survive him. Friends will be received Saturday from 2-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Panachida-Brief Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 2 PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
