Daniel DeWayne Harmon, 92, Homer City, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his residence as peacefully as he lived surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Daniel and Bessie (Campbell) Harmon and was born June 29, 1924 in Homer City. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and faithful friendDaniel graduated from Homer Center High School, and Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) and Penn State University. He taught school in Homer City and retired from the Indiana Area School District. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana, life member of the Indiana VFW. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Army, stationed in the South Pacific and Australia. He is survived by his wife, Diana R Markley, whom he married in 1951; children, John Eric (Jen Stempf), Kimberly Ann and Daniel James; two grandchildren, John Travis (Alexis) and Cody Daniel (Stephanie); two great grandchildren, Emory Wayne and Morgan Naomi. He is also survived by daughter-in-law, Tamera K.; brother, John M. (Norma)and sister, Erna Jean and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded death by his brothers, Clair and Paul; and sisters, Thelma and Edna and infant sister, Leora. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 3 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana, with Rev. Greg Golden, officiating. A private interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. The C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City is in charge of arrangements.
