Clara (Byers) Trimarchi

Clara Byers Trimarchi, 94 of White Township died peacefully on March 18,2018 at The Communites of Indian Haven. Born on November 4 ,1923, in Lampeter, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, she was the sixth child of Willis Eshelman Byers and Nellie Hosfeld Byers. After graduating from Lampeter High School, she attended Indiana State Teachers College, where she graduated with a degree in art and art education. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. While in school, she met her future husband, Jim. For two years after graduation, she taught elementary school art in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania before marrying her husband in 1948. Thereafter they made their home in White Township. Clara enjoyed painting water colors all her life, was an avid reader, gardener, golfer, skier, and world traveler. Her most memorable trips were to her beloved Italy where she was delighted to hear Luciano Pavarotti sing several times. She and Jim also traveled to the Peoples Republic of China with members of the Byers family in 1981. She often described it as one of the most engaging and remarkable adventures she ever had. She also remembered proudly the trips to Chicago to the Democratic National Convention in 1952 and 1956 with her husband who was a member of the Pennsylvania delegation. She was thrilled to watch Senator Adlai Stevenson accept the presidential nomination of the party on both occasions. Stevenson remained her favorite politician throughout her life. She is survived by her daughter, Nell Staub and her husband James, of Alberton, Montana, and her daughter, Julia Cuccaro and her husband John, of White Township, and their two children, John James Cuccaro of Missoula, Montana, and Clara Elizabeth Cuccaro of Pittsburgh, her sister in law Betty Byers, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Her beloved husband, E. James Trimarchi, predeceased her in 2006, as well as all of her siblings and her husbands siblings: Dorothy H. Byers, Mary B. Peffer and husband Robert, Elizabeth H. Byers, Robert Byers, Willis Byers and wife Jeanette, Nellie H. Byers and husband Robert, Sam Trimarchi and wife Grace, Charles Trimarchi, Frances Simeone and husband Joe, Joseph Trimarchi and wife Anna Marie, Carmen Realino and husband John, and William Bill Trimarchi. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in Indiana on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to The Communities at Indian Haven. The C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City is in charge of arrangements.
