Carl “Dwight” George, 87, of Homer City, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1936, in Murrysville, PA, to Carl and Margaret (Altman) George and graduated from Laura Lamar High School. 

On March 29, 1956, Dwight married his beloved wife, Julia (Taylor), and together they celebrated an incredible 66 years of love, laughter, and support, creating countless cherished memories. A proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he treasured his family above all else. 

Dwight was a lifetime member and founder of the Homer City Booster’s Club. In 1958, he, along with a few others, initiated the youth football program in Homer City, serving as a coach until stepping down after the championship season in 1966. He dedicated decades of his life to various sportsmen’s clubs and community organizations.

He is survived by his brother, Lisle George (Judy); his children, Randy (Patti), Alan (Debbie), and Aimee Leary (Brian); his beloved grandchildren, Abby Vaughan (Brandon), Alicia Schweitzer (Nick), Lindsey Cates (Austin), Ashley George, and Tori and Kara Leary; as well as six great-grandsons, Grayson and Max Vaughan, and Logan, Graham, Benett Schweitzer, and George Cates.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, and his two sisters, Louise Babco and Dorothy Henry. His legacy of love and dedication to family and community will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 4 PM at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Homer City.
