Anna J. (Maloney) Sacco

January 17, 1918 — February 10, 2018

Anna J. Sacco, 100, of Homer City passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, in Beacon Ridge Nursing Home surrounded by her loving children. She was born January 17, 1918 in Aultman, PA, daughter of Nicolina Mitcho and Anthony Maloney. On July 3, 1946, she married Ross A Sacco who proceeded her in death February 16, 1954. As a young adult, Anna worked at the Indiana Macaroni Factory, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Dining Hall. She then traveled to New Jersey to work as a riveter in a Defense Plant during WWII. Upon her return to Indiana she went to work for the Bennett Family on Vinegar Hill in Indiana. Her last job was working for Maloney Coin Operated Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Indiana which she did for 35 years. Anna was an avid cook and baker and could be found Sunday mornings preparing spaghetti and meatball dinner for her family and friends. She loved to bowl and did so with her bowling 'Girls' until the age of 93. She was also a dedicated Bingo player for many years. Anna was a faithful Pittsburgh Pirate Baseball fan and never missed watching or listening to a game. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Homer City Senior Citizens. She is survived by her two sons, Danny Sacco and wife Carol of Homer City and Richard Sacco and wife Carolyn of Graceton, her daughter Regina Maday and husband Leonard of Homer City; her eight grandchildren Suzanne D'Amico and husband John of Buffalo, NY, Ross Sacco and wife Jillian of Katonah, NY, Angela Frazer and husband Brian of Homer City, Craig Sacco and wife Lori of Derry, Mario Sacco and wife Kali of Jamesville, NY, Jeannine Jones and husband Jesse of Homer City; Alison Buggey and husband Sean of Frederick, MD and Ashley Krejocic and husband Kurt of Homer City; her fourteen great grandchildren Anna Bella and Scarlett D'Amico, Natalie and Riley Sacco, Grace, Brady, and Maria Frazer, Anthony and Mia Sacco, Jackson Sacco, Lee Jones, Fiona and Sloan Buggey and Maz Krejocic. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ross; her parents; five sisters Lucy Biancuzzo, Mary Russo, Grace Staff, Margaret Venuto and Kathryn Prymak; two brothers Anthony and Joseph Maloney and two infant brothers. Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the C Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. Interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery in Indiana, PA.
